Ithaca Spa FAQ

The spa is a wonderful solo retreat, and also a great experience to share with friends. We offer multiple opportunities for guest to come in and share the spa experience together. While we do not have specific packages on our menu our reception desk is more than happy to curate a spa day for your based on your preferred services.

Gift certificates are available in any amount through our reception desk or on-line store.

At this time we are still booking services so as to leave space for our guests to remain socially distances from each other unless you are coming with friends. We ask that you arrive no more than 30 minute prior to your appointment time and stay no more than 30 minute after your services end. This is what provides us the opportunity for you to remain comfortable in our communal spaces without being uncomfortable in an overly packed tranquility room or locker room.

When you check in for your spa appointment, you will be provided with a robe and a pair of sandals as well as a locker to store street clothes. We encourage you to leave valuables in your room or vehicle, and remove jewelry prior to your treatment. All treatments provide you privacy to undress to your level of comfort in the treatment room, and we utilize sheets and/or towels so you are always covered, comfortable and secure during the performance of services.

Your belongings may be locked in your personal locker in our locker room. La Tourelle and August Moon Spa are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal items. Please refrain from bringing jewelry and/or valuable items with you.

We kindly ask that cell phones and pagers be turned off or silenced during your visit. Our tranquility rooms are an oasis for peace and relaxation. Please keep the volume on any electronics to a minimum.

If you are experiencing a specific medical condition be it acute or long term we recommend reaching out to our reception desk to discuss if the service you are looking to book may or may not be contraindicated for your condition. Professionals reserve the right to modify or refuse service based on contraindications to guests who have not dislosed a full medical condition at time of booking.

Absolutely! We have multiple services that are available for guests who are expecting and can custom tailor a spa day for you no matter what trimester you are in.

We recommend eating light, if at all, about an hour before spa services. Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol throughout the day. Outside food and beverages are not allowed in the spa however light snacks and locally sourced beverages can be purchased through our reception department.

Gratuities are not included in service prices, and is up to your discretion on an amount. Common practice is 20% of service costs, and can be handled through the reception desk at checkout in cash, credit card or room charge (if you are staying at the hotel).

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If an appointment is missed, cancelled or rescheduled during that time, there will be a charge to the card on file. Please call for details.

August Moon is in support of the right of all genders. Our locker rooms which include our facilities are gender separated however we allow guests to choose their locker room based on the gender they identify with even if it does not match their biological gender.

In order to complete a waxing service, you must have hair growth of at least half an inch long. Typically, this means not shaving for two to four weeks prior to your appointment and having discontinued use of any Retin-A, Renova, Differin, Accutane, Alpha or Beta hydroxy acids a minimum of one week prior to your waxing service. This is because these products can result in lifting of the skin. Lotions, oils and creams can interfere with the product’s ability to grab hold of the hair follicle. Therefore, it is best to arrive early enough to shower before your treatment. Heat also causes difficulty in allowing the wax to set. So avoid steam or sauna use before or after a waxing service. It is recommended to schedule your waxing for 24 to 48 hours prior to a major event to allow any redness or sensitivity to dissipate as much as possible.

First time waxing? Take two ibuprofen an hour before coming in and gently exfoliate. We do not recommend waxing if you have diabetes or an autoimmune disease as the skin may be prone to lifting. Let your aesthetician know if you have been using medication that could affect your waxing service such as (Retin-A, Accutane, Alpha or Beta Hydroxy Acids).

Out of respect for other spa guests, we hold a strict 14 and up age policy within the locker rooms, tranquility rooms and treatment rooms of our spa. Guests who are in the 14 – 17 year age category must have a release form filled out by a legal guardian or parent prior to the beginning of their services.
